Christmas is a time for families to come together. For families with a loved one who receives care, organising things over the festive period can be a little more complicated than usual — and we're here to help make it wonderful.
Planning ahead brings peace of mind
Arranging care in plenty of time means you can relax knowing you're ready for the big day. Our team can check that a relative is set for the celebrations, help put up decorations, or accompany someone to a carol concert — whatever helps them feel comfortable and looked after. Many of our carers are also happy to help set up a video call so different members of the family can be together, wherever they are. Just ask.
Getting into the festive spirit
We love this time of year at Gardiner's — the office is decorated inside and out, we take part in Christmas Jumper Day, some of the team do the local Santa Run, and we always collect donations for the local foodbank.
A thank you to our care workers
Ideally, everyone would have Christmas Day off — opening presents, watching films and enjoying good food. But for many home care workers, Christmas Day is about caring for others, often supporting people who are unwell and who may be lonely over the festive period. It's an emotional time, and it's simply part of the job. So we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every care worker who will spend time away from their own family on Christmas Day, to look after the many people who need care, love and support on the 25th of December, just like any other day of the year.
